Technical Writing Employment
Prior to becoming a freelance writer, I worked at Viisage
and Centra Software. I also interned at Unifi Communications while
completing graduate studies at Northeastern University.
Viisage
Littleton, MA (2000-2002)
A leader in secure identification technology, Viisage provided solutions
using biometrics and secure credentials. I contributed user manuals, administrator guides, and online help for image
capture and face recognition hardware and software. I created FaceTOOLS® Software Developers Kit (SDK), a 300+ page programming reference for face recognition and image capture, one of the most extensive and challenging projects I've completed from start to finish as sole writer.
In addition, I developed Viisage's response to requests for proposals (RFPs), including successful proposals for driver license systems in Kentucky, Mississippi, Connecticut, and Georgia for $42M in new business.
Centra Software
Lexington, MA (1999-2000)
Centra provided eLearning and online collaboration solutions. I wrote software user manuals, developed online help, worked on active server pages, and designed embedded help screens.
Highlights included receiving an STC Award of Merit for Centra Conference Online Help. I also helped to develop Centra 99 Online Help, approximately 250 topics, entirely in HTML.
